When claiming that the rights of the State were gradually taken by the center, Tamil Nadu’s Prime Minister MK Stalin announced on Tuesday the constitution of a panel under a retired judge from the Supreme Court on state autonomy.

The high -level committee headed by the former judge of the Supreme Court Kurian Joseph will examine in detail the relationship between the Union and the state governments to guarantee state autonomy. Will send its provisional report in January 2026. The final report with recommendations will be submitted in two years, Stalin told the State Assembly.

The panel will have the former bureaucrat, Ashok Vardhan Shetty and the former vice president of the M Naganathan State Planning Commission as its members.

“The Committee will study, according to the law, to transfer the subjects that obtain from the state list to the list of competitors,” said the main minister and pointed out that the National Elicer and Entry Test (Neet) was beyond the reach of the states.
