The results for the second Karnataka examination were announced on April 8, with an approval rate or 73.45 percent. Unfortunately, the announcement has led to tragic results, since several students who did not approve have tasks of their own lives. In several state districts, more than five students have committed suicide due to the failures of their exams.
In a heartbreaking incident, Roopashree, 18, from the village of Ramayannalyaa in Doddaballapur, ended his life jumping to a well. Roopashree, who had been living in his grandmother’s house, was deeply distressed by his results. The Doddaballapur Rural Police Station has registered a case after the recovery of its body.
Other districts have also witnessed similar tragedies. Kavya Basappa Lamani, a student of the Hansabavi Police Station in Haveri, touched his own life after failing the second PU exam.
In the Mysore district, Aishwarya, a student from a government university in Ontikoppal, also committed suicide. Vijayalakshmi sirupada ended his life in Agasanur, Siraguppa Taluk or Bellary district.
In addition, a student named Kruupa, who studied science at a private university in Davangere, played his own life after reproving the exam. In Bengaluru, another student committed suicide only a few hours before the results were announced.
The authorities urge students not to resort to such extreme measures, reminding them that there are additional opportunities to resume exams. Free arrangements have the leg so that students feel for the second and third attempt, and it is crucial to face the exams without fear.
