Swachh Bharat Mission Director reviews SWM in Bengaluru

The Swachh Bharat (Urban) 2.0 mission under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, reviewed solid waste management activities in the boundaries of Bhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on Friday.

Binay Jha, director, Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) 2.0 visited the Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML) office to receive a detailed informative session on current waste management strategies and plans for the city. K. Harish Kumar, CEO or BSWML, presented a comprehensive general description or BBMP operations, including daily waste collection mechanisms, infrastructure projects and technology adoption.

Currently, Bengaluru generates around 6,500 metric tons of waste daily, which are segregated at the source and are collected through automatic Tpers equipped with RFID follow -up. Sheriffs use mobile applications for daily assistance and application, he said.

Strict sanctions are being collected on those who throw garbage at the edges of the roads, the specific night patrols. Sensitization campaigns are being carried out to encourage households to deliver waste directly to cars, Mr. Kumar said.

Mr. JHA also visited the waste processing units of the landfills and KC Devanahalli. He sacrificed suggestions to improve public education and communication to increase the segregation of waste at the source and reduce the volume of mixed waste that reaches the landfills.

He also inspected a private processing plant under construction of Mukka Proteins Ltd., developed with an investment of ₹ 150 million rupees using international technology. The plant is expected to process 1,000 TM of daily waste.
