The Minister of School Education, ANBIL MAHSH Poyyamozhi, on Friday reiterated the strong opposition of the state government to the recent amendments to the WAQF Law (amendment) 2025, describing it as “anti-puertos and anti-minority.”
I was talking in a protest organized by Indian Union Muslim League (IIuml) here, demanding the withdrawal of recent amendments to the WAQF law.
The protest was directed by the vice president of the district of IIuml Meinulabudens. DMK’s Secretary of DMK, N. Gowthaman, the Secretary of State of Congress, Navasath, Manithaney District Makkal Catchi, Os Ibrahim and Makkal Needhi Maiam district secretary, Syed Anas Tok, part in the protest.
Mr. Mahesh said: “The amendments were specifically brought to attack Muslims. Tamil Nadu Prime Minister, MK, put himself as a shield for minorities. That is why the State Assembly approved a special resolution that opposed the bill.”
“While many states decided to remain silent, Tamil Nadu raised his voice in protest. We are with you and ask him to stay with us,” he added.
