In a medical advance, the doctors of the General Hospital of Osmania of the Télangana Government (OGH) in Hyderabad have successfully performed a liver transplant in a patient suffering from Marfan and Vy Severe syndrome).

The 37 -year -old patient was diagnosed with Ivory syndrome at early adulthood. By then, he had reached a critical stage of HPS. His breathing undertaken severely due to low oxygen levels perched by advanced liver disease.
What are HPS and Ivory syndrome?
Hepatopulmonary (HPS) syndrome is a strange and severe condition where liver disease leads to low oxygen levels and expands from blood vessels in the lungs, which makes it difficult to breathe. Liver transplant is usually the only treatment. But in this case, the patient also had Ivory Syndrome, a genetic disorder that makes body tissues fragile and increase the risk of heart problems. These factors made surgery much more risky, said Ch Madhusudhan, a surgical surgical gastroenterologist involved in the case.
A team of hepatologists, pulmonologists, cardiologists and transplant surgeons in the hospital spent months evaluating the patient’s condition. After extensive discussions and reviews of global medical literature, the team concluded that the liver transplant remained the only viable treatment option despite the complex risks involved.
“While challenges such as vascular fragility, duration of surgery were found, the operation was processed without important complications. In the days after the procedure, the patient’s oxygen levels began to stabilize and the hepherration of a contyratory case was the recovery and the improved quality of life,” Dr. said Madhusudhan.
“This is a milestone not only for our hospital but also for the global medical community. The successful management of such a strange and high risk demonstrates the power of collaboration and innovation in modern medicine,” said the surgeon.
