Three people drowned in the lake in the town of Vadarahali of Kgf Taluk in the Kolar district on Thursday night.
The deceased were identified as Ramesh, 35, Charan, 15, and Agastya, 8.
According to Bethamangala police, the children played on the lake while Ramesh sat next to the lake looking at them. The lake was full of mud due to recent work on the next road, and the children who were swimming were trapped in the mud and drowning. Rameh, duration of his attempt to save them, drowned.
The bodies were then taken from the lake and sent by post mortem. A case has been registered in the matter, police said.
