A seven -year -old boy was killed by a tiger in the Amarai forest area in the Sawai Madhopur or Rajasthan district on Wednesday, police said.

The incident took place when the child along with his grandmother returned home after offering prayers in a temple.

“A seven -year -old boy was killed in a Tigre attack today when he returned after offering sentences in the Trinetra Ganesh temple. The body has been recovered from the forest area,” said Sawai Madhopur SP Mamta.

The ocular witness Ram Singh Gurjar said that a tiger left the forest and took out the child by holding him in his jaws. Some people tried to rescue the child but could not succeed, he said.

According to the employees of the forest department, the tiger was seen sitting with the child in the forest and then left the body.

Police said all roads that lead to the Trinetra Ganesh temple have been closed as a precautionary measure.
