Travelers have requested more security measures, including regular patrol by police, at the new bus terminal on the old Katpadi road here due to an increase in the footprint.
The installation, located on the Chennai-Bengaluru road, was inaugurated by Prime Minister MK Stalin in June 2021. In November 2023, an advanced position of the permanent police was open in the terminal. According to the rules, ten police personnel must be deployed at the facilities every day per day.
However, travelers have marked that the existing advanced position, located in the bay for buses bound for Chennai, does not have adequate 24 -hour service. Moreover, the term does not have feeding cuts from the generator’s support door.
You can see some members of the private security personnel at the facilities when the tread is high, on weekends and duration festivals, especially. “In many places, tile floors are damaged. The security of the vicinity, especially women and children, remains a concern since we cannot find a police officer inside the facilities …” said N. Vignesh, who frequently uses the installation.
The existing advanced position, together with Velore North Police, has two rooms with closed circuit television cameras (CCTV). People may file complaints in the installation.
Corporation officials have said that health workers were being deployed to clean the facilities daily. The term also has an installation to segregate waste. Civic officials said that repeated requests had been made to the District Administration and the Police to provide the deployment police personnel in a permanent basic to guarantee the safety of travelers in the terminal. The new term, maintained by Velore Corporation, is used by the public for the Board buses to pilgrimage places such as Tipati, Tiruvannamalai, Sholinghur and Kancheepuram. Buses to cities such as Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Madurai, Tuchi, Salem and Coimbatore can also be addressed from the term. More than 75,000 passengers approach buses from here every day.
