The deputy of Behrampore Lok Sabha and the leader of the Trinamool Congress, Yusuf Pathan, has found himself entangled in a controversy, since he remained silent about community violence in Murshidabad, which is not far from its constitution.
On April 8, parts of the Murshidabad district exploded in violence on the protests of the Anti-Waqf Law (amendment). A section of protesters collided with the police where multiple police vehicles caught fire. Three people have died so far in communal clashes and around 274 arrested and 60 fir trees have been presented.
On April 11, Mr. Paathan published a photo with him drinking tea and wrote: “Easy afternoon, good chai and a quiet environment. Simply soaked at the time.” The Constitution of the Cricket player turned into a politician is only 80 km from the area affected by violence, which has led to a broad extension of criticism, some within the party.
The position of Mr. Pathan led to many reactions of opposition parties, including the president of the State of the Bhartiya Janta and MP party, Sukanta Majumdar.
“The deputy of TMC @iamyusufpathan is publishing an image of him drinking tea and soaking at the time while the Hindus are being comfortored in the Malda-Murshidabad region!” Mr. Majumdar wrote on Handle X social networks.
Many political leaders have visited the affected areas and with the Aggieuwed people, including the five times deputy of Murshidabad and the former president of the State of Congress, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.
“Here Hindu Muslims have grown together. Someone from outside can cause such incidents, but it has not become a communal district,” Chowdhury told the media on April 15 after visiting the affected families.
Yusuf Pathan is a deputy for the first time of Behrampore within the Murshidabad district that has two other constituencies, Murshidabad and Jangipur. The representation of the senior TMC leaders of TMC, Abu Taher Khan and Khalilur Rahaman, the two seats respectively.
“Yusuf Pathan is an athlete. He is busy with Cricket and Sports. What will he do here?” Mr. Khan told him The Hindu. But he also added that they are in contact with Mr. Pathhan on the phone and have updated it on the development in the soil.
Humayun Kabir, a MLA TMC of Bharatpur in Murshidabad, thought that if an MP does not stop next to the difficult times of the door of its people, then it will reflect the killing elections. “He is a complicated one is a non -political person. When a person becomes a public representative, then he has a lot of response. He should have come here and asked about people and his condition. He would have helped him connect with people.” The Hindu.
Amid the controversy, Yusuf Pathan has not shared any statement about the problem. He has made two other publications on his social media page not related to community violence in Murshidabad.
Meanwhile, on April 18, Governor CV Ananda Bose went to Murshidabad to meet the affected families. This occurred after Prime Minister Mamata Banerjee begged him on April 17 (Thursday) to postpone his proposal visit.
Speaking to the persons of the media of the State Secretariat on Thursday, Banerje said that he would request that “apart from the premises, no one should go [to Murshidabad]”
“Normality has returned, and the need for time is to generate trust among people. This is doing the state administration. If that were the case, I could also have gone. Why don’t I go? I will go to the right. He said.
