“At least 29 children were rescued from an unauthorized shelter led by an organization in the Thante district of Maharashtra after an abuse of complaints,” said an official on Saturday (April 12, 2025).

“The police on Friday (April 11, 2025) rescued 20 girls and nine boys from Pasaydan Vikas Sanstha, a residential institution in Khadavli and registered a case against five people under the 2015 Youth Justice Law and Childen’s protection,” said the district administration.

The children’s aid line received one complaint on Thors Day (April 10, 2025) that the children were being beaten and sexually bound in the institution.

“A team from the Office of Women and Child Development of the District, together with the Police, inspected the institution on Friday (April 11, 2025) and found certain accusations after interacting with the children,” said the statement.

The rescued children were presented to the Child Welfare Committee. Some of them study at the Zilla Parishad school in Khadavli.
