The neuroblastoma, which affects approximately eight in one million children, usually originates in the adrenal glands or nerve tissues in the neck, chest or pelvis. In this case, the tumor had not only invaded the lower vena cava (IVC), the large vein that transports blood from the bottom of the body to the heart, but also locked its right kidney.
“Initially, we opted for chemotherapy, but the tumor response was suboptimal. Surgery became inevitable, and we care about the possibility of eliminating the kidney.
