The body of a 17 -year -old Kabaddi player was found hanging in his hostel room in the biggest Dhyan Chand Sports College in Saifai here on Friday, police said.
The Police Superintendent (Rural) Satpal Singh told journalists that the child has been identified as Rajev Singh, a class 9 student and a Kabaddi apprentice at the University.
His body was found hung inside his hostel room at the University’s facilities, said the sp.
Another student noticed the body through a window and immediately informed the university authorities, which they later alerted the police. Police staff arrived at the scene, knocked down the body and began investigating the room. No suicide note was found in the place, said Singh.
University officials told the Police that Rajev, originally from the Dhawal village in the Gorakhpur district, joined Saifai Sports College in 2022 and had been residing there since then.
They described him as a quiet and hardworking student. He participated in regular morning training with his teammates around 5 in the morning on Friday, police said.
The body has been sent for post mortem. The student’s family has been informed and are heading to ETAWAH, police said.
