The Vadakara train station, the only station in the Kozhikode district developed under the scheme of the Amrit Bharat (Abss) station, expects a formal inauguration after the completion of the renewal work. According to rail sources, while the first phase of renewal work has been completed, the date of the official inauguration has not yet been solved. It is also the first station in Kerala, whose work has been completed under the scheme.

The Vadakara Train Station (also known as Badagara – Station Code: BDJ) is an important station under the Southern Railway Palakkad division, located on the Shoranur – Mangaluru route. Of the ₹ 30.82 million rupees sanctioned for the project, ₹ 21.66 million rupees have been spent in the current phase. The second renewal phase will begin later.

A significant portion of the funds for beautification was used, in part of the 5,500 square meters front and an entrance porch of 1,140 square meters. A great pound in front of the porch, around which traffic circulation has been simplified, is one of the key features of the renewed station. The approach and output roads of 15 meters wide have been placed on both sides of the pond and the garden that surrounds it.

The design of the front of the station has been redesigned to include a spacious car parking area of 8,582 square meters.

A vertical garden adjacent to the main building, modern lighting and seat arrangements are part of the beautification process.

The main building has been rebuilt in the traditional architectural style of Kerala, with a roof of tiles and wall paintings. The counters and ticket platforms have improved the legs with modern finishes. Well -lit platforms now include wide seats, fans, CCTV cameras and drinking water dispensers. The three platforms are equipped with new LED Coach Position screen boards.

A mechanical ladder and an elevator have been installed near the set against the foot, with an additional elevator and a mechanical ladder planned in the second phase. An air conditioning room has also been introduced, accessible to the public for a position of ₹ 30 per hour.
