VIT holds felicitation event for academician

The Velore Institute of Technology (Vit) organized a congruence by Yasoda Shanmugasundaram, former vice chancellor of Mother Teresa Women’s University, on her campus here on Saturday.

According to a press release, the distinguished academic was recently awarded with the prestigious Avvvaiyar award for the state government for its contribution to women’s empowerment.

In his speech, G. Viswanathan, founder and chancellor, Vit, recalled his long association with Mrs. Yasoda. Hello, he also urged the government to increase expense in higher education. “If India has to become a super power, expense in higher education should be increased,” he said.

The Foreign Minister also thanked the state government for identifying the right person for the Avvaiyar 2025 Award.

In her acceptance speech, Mrs. Yasoda thanked Vit for organizing the ceremony and attributed her illustrious career to her family. She urged students to take education and health seriously.

Other dignitaries present include Sankar Viswanathan and Sekar Viswanathan, vice presidents, Vit, and former Union Minister NT Shanmugam, according to the statement.
