The Communist Party of India (ICC) organized a protest in the Gandhi Bomma Junction here on Saturday, demanding the withdrawal of the WAQF Board Law of the WAQF Board introduced by the Narendra Modi government in the center.
The protest, organized in coordination with the Committee of the United Muslim Forum (MUFC), was part of an agitation throughout the country by the National IPC Committee. The District Secretary of the ICC, YS Nagaraju, the secretary of the city VC Gopinath and the party activists led the protest.
Going to the meeting, Nagaraju said that the amendment was unconstitutional and criticized the Government of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for trying to create communal division and tension between religious communities for their political profits.
The IPC leader worn the NDA regime for not complying with key electoral promises, including employment generation with the sum of 20 million jobs, increase farmers’ income and reduce the prices of essential basic products. “The center is facilitating the transfer of WAQF properties to corporate entities,” he said.
The cadudas of the CPI sought the immediate withdrawal of the police notices to the protesters of the minority community in Uttar Pradesh and warned that the left parties would undertake an agitation at the national level if the legislation is not withdrawn.
