On Saturday (April 12, 2025) a new violence was reported from the Murshidabad district of Western Bengal with a person who received a bullet wound, police said.
The incident occurred in Dhulian in the Samsergerj block of the Muslim majority district. Large -scale violence was reported on Friday (April 11, 2025) of the Suti and Samserganj areas of the District’s duration on the WAQF Law (amendment), they said.
Going to a press conference in Kolkata, ADG (Law and Order) Jawed Shamim said the incident details are not yet available.
He said that the Local Police may not have bones in the shooting incident, and that “this could be likely to be from the end of BSF.”
“These are early reports that we need to verify,” he said.
However, the injured person was admitted to a hospital and out of danger, Shamim said.
After Friday’s violence (April 11, 2025), the BSF was deployed in some areas of the district, which shares a border with Bangladesh. Shamim said that until now 118 people have been arrested in relation to their alleged participation in violence incidents.
The number would increase as the raids continue, he said.
People urged not to pay attention to rumors in social networks and keep calm.
Superior officers at ADG and IG level are monitoring the situation in Murshidabad in the field, and specialized forces have been deployed to avoid an outbreak, he said.
Meanwhile, a teenager who was allegedly injection into the police shooting clashes in the Suti area of the District entered a hospital in Kolkata, an officer said previously.
Speaking at the same press conference, the Director General of Police (DGP) Rajev Kumar said that measures would be taken against those who enjoy violence, and men in uniforms will do everything that is in their possession to protect the lives and properties of innocent citizens.
“The unfortunate incident that occurred this morning may have caused no foundation rumors that extend from the neighborhoods of the neighborhoods.
