According to intelligence sources, groups such as James-Ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) may have supplied weapons, taught training and propaganda through the border routes of Bangladesh and the Delta del Sundarbans. But what is the JMB?
The sources said that the prohibited militant group that operates from Bangladesh collaborates with the Lashkar-E-Taiba (Let), Harkat-Ul-Jihad-Al-Islami (Huji) and even to ISIS affiliates by training and logistics. They said that Burdwan’s explosion of 2014 revealed the ties with the letters, with smuggling explosives of the neighboring country.

How does JMB work?

- Intelligence sources said the JMB uses a hybrid approach in radicalization with a combination of online and off -line tactics. It recruits young technology experts through messaging platforms such as Telegram and WhatsApp, sharing encrypted messages and content inspired by ISIS to glorify violence.
- The sources said that the group exploits filter bubbles and Eco cameras, where algorithms push extremist content to users who are already with radical material. Therefore, vulnerable people, especially those who experience social alienation, prepare online. Studies show that solitary actors radicalized online or lack off -line networks, but are influenced by curing extremist.
- They said that the land operations of JMBs focus on exploiting local institutions and socioconic gaps, and have penetrated the groups of Madrasa and Muslims. The monkeys not regulated in border districts such as Murshidabad and Dhubri serve as fronts for indoctrination.
- Radical clergy preach JMB’s Salafist ideology, framing violence as jihad for Sharia, the sources said. Young unemployed in impoverished are attracted to financial incentives or promises of purpose. For example, JMB agents in Assam’s Dhubri used false currency and firearms to recruit members.
