While India is preparing to extradite Tahawwur Hussain Rana, accused of the terrorist attacks of Mumbai, from the United States, her associate, David Coleman Headley, has also caught her attention. Headly was a key conspirator in the 2008 bombings that resulted in the death of 166 people, including 20 security personnel and 26 foreigners, in multiple locations in Mumbai.
A joint team of the National Research Agency (NIA) and the Investigation and Analysis Wing (RAW) will extradite Rana (64) after the United States Supreme Court dismissed its declaration of review in search of an emergency stay to India. Development occurs almost 16 years after its judgment by the FBI.
Who is David Coleman Headley?
- Headley, a Pakistani American, already declared guilty of his participation in the attacks that paralyzed Mumbai for almost three days.
- He is currently serving a 35 -year sentence in an American prison for crimes related to terrorism related to Mumbai attacks and a planned assault on a Danish newspaper. India has repeatedly sought its extradition, but US authorities have refused, citing their cooperation agreement.
