Sir Chetur Sankaran Nair was a fierce, nationalist and firm opponent or British colonialism. Following the Amritsar massacre, he made history challenging the British government in court, boldly exposing his violent suppression of the Indians.

Despite playing a key role in India’s trip to justice, Nair is still relatively unknown to many. Born in a respected family in Palakkad, Kerala, Hey climbed through the ranks of the legal system. By 1919, Nair served as Minister of Education and was the only Indian member of the Viceroy Executive Council, one of the highest positions an Indian could occupy under British domain.

However, after the massacre in Amritsar, he was deeply shocked and resigned in the protest, a decision that gave a great blow to the British authority.
