Wholesale prices inflation decreased to 2.05% in March, compared to 2.38% in February, government data showed on Tuesday (April 15, 2025).

However, inflation based on wholesale prices index (WPI) increased year after year. It was 0.26% in March 2024.

“The positive inflation rate in March 2025 is mainly due to the increase in the prices of manufacturing food products, other manufacturers, food items, electricity and textile manufacturing, etc.,” said the Ministry of Industry in a statement.

According to WPI data, food inflation decreased to 1.57% in March, from 3.38% in February, with vegetables seeing an acute fall. Deflation in vegetables was 15.88%.

However, inflation in manufactured products saw an increase in 3.07% in March, compared to 2.86% in February.

Fuel and energy also saw an increase with the 0.20% inflation rate in March, compared to a defalation or 0.71% in February.
