The former Judge of the Supreme Court, Markandey Katju, known for his sarcasm, has caused a controversy with his activity on social networks. Katju, a frequent user of platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, is known for getting involved with the public through comments and interactions. Despite their popularity, their statements of anger incite and lead to a severe violent reaction, including death threats.
Recently, Katju has been criticized for a position that suggests that Western Bengal Prime Minister Mamata Banerjee should marry. A screenshot of its Instagram publication, which reads: “Why don’t Bengali find a good husband for Mamata Banerjee?” It was shared by the leader of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), Kunal Ghosh.
Ghosh, who published the screenshot in his @kungoshagein account, threatened Katju with physical violence if he did not apologize and eliminated the publication.
“If this person has really said this and if he does not apologize and eliminate it, regardless of the position he occupies, if I receive the news that he has set foot in Bengal, I will present it and weaken it,” Ghosh wrote.

The publication has caused several online reactions. A user named @Trueindian303 defended Katju, arguing that his statement was a matter of free expression and a fundamental right.
Another user, HS Chakraborty, made fun of Ghosh, noting that he had not seen any support comments for Ghosh despite reading them for 40 minutes.
Meanwhile, Bhavani Prasad Ray supported Katju’s comment by suggesting sarcastically that Banerje behaves like a husband and, therefore, needs a wife, indicating the complexity of the situation.
