The work has begun for the rebirth of the historic Lake Ramgarh near Jaipur, which was once a lifeguard for the water supply to the capital of Rajasthan. The water body, located 32 km here, has been dry since 2000, since numerous invasions and obstetras in the collection area have stopped the free flow of water to the Ramgarh dam.
To drink
The Minister of Water Resources, Suresh Singh, Rawwat, put the stone of the foundations for repair and beautification work in the dam during the weekend, while indicating that it was proposed that the water be brought from the Parvati Sindh-Chambal link project. The water will be supplied to the dam mainly to drink.
The Eastern Rajastán Canal project has been integrated with the Plvati-Kali Sindh-Chabal Link project and included in the National Perspective Plan for the Special Committee constituted for the linking of the river. The Memorandum of Agreement for the implementation of link projects was signed between the governments of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh on December 17, 2024.
As part of the link project, a provision has been made to supply water to large and medium -sized irrigation projects located in the project area on basic technical and financial viability. It is proposed that the works worth ₹ 2.53 million rupees are implemented in Ramgarh condemning the next 12 months.
The works that will be completed in the dam before the water supply include the repair of the damaged road in the embankment, the construction of the parapet wall, the repair of the damaged control room building and the stairs of the area of submerging the dam and the throwing of stone on the slope.
Mr. Rawwat said the state government would not leave stone without moving when the Ramgarh lake and preserve the structure of the dam with constant monitoring. Hey asked the department officials to complete the works within the stipulated period while ensuring their quality.
The rural deputy of Jaipur, Rao Rajendra Singh, was among those present on the occasion. The agitis for the protection of the prey collection area have been tasks several times in the past with the villagers and farmers of the region organized with the demand for an immediate elimination of the invasions.
The state government had previously identified and eliminated the obstestructions and invasions in 323.30 hectares of land near the dam. Anicuts and dams of more than 2 meters high were demolished and their height was limited to two meters, according to the direction of the Rajasthan Superior Court.
The former rule of Jaipur Sawai Ram Singh II built Lake Ramgarh in 1876 to provide relief to the inhabitants of the region. It was the main source of water supply to Jaipur City at the same time and it was also a popular duration of a picnic place, the rainy season. The rowing events of the 1982 Asian Games were held at Lake Ramgarh.
