In elucidating the government’s multipronged strategy for deep tech, Chandrasekhar listed many major areas of concentration, such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), and high-performance computing.
Sync Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the Minister of State for Electronics and IT, emphasized on Tuesday the critical role deep tech has in India’s digital development. According to him, deep tech will be crucial to the next round of growth in India’s startup scene and innovation in general.
During his virtual speech at the Nasscom Future Forge event in Bengaluru, Chandrasekhar emphasized the importance of the digital economy, claiming that it has grown significantly in the last few years and now represents about 11.5% of India’s GDP.
He said that the government’s ambitious goal is to raise this percentage to 20% by 2026, with a focus on innovation and deep tech.
The minister stated that the rate of growth in the digital industry is astounding, surpassing that of other economic sectors by a factor of 2.5.
In elucidating the government’s multipronged strategy for deep tech, Chandrasekhar listed many major areas of concentration, such as cybersecurity, high-performance computing, quantum computing, semiconductors, and artificial intelligence (AI). According to him, the central government is committed to fostering innovation and developing capacities in these fields.
In this ecosystem, a large number of businesses are now developing cutting-edge technology, patents, and intellectual property. The focus is on the crucial technologies created by deep tech businesses, such as algorithms, learning models, and underlying models, rather than just scalability, size, or customer numbers. These advancements use AI to solve practical problems; examples include cybersecurity platforms that use AI and core technologies in tandem, as well as the next generation of AI chips and edge AI chips “explained Chandrasekhar.
The minister also emphasized India’s changing place in the world of technology. He stated that although India has long been recognized for its software and IT services, it is currently establishing itself as a center for the development of cutting-edge technology and intellectual property (IP).
