At this time, many people throughout India are protesting against a new law on WAQF properties (lands and buildings used for religious or charitable purposes in Islam). A congress leader only has tasks of the Supreme Court. These protests are becoming a big political problem, and different parties are using them to obtain support.

For example, Mayawati, a leader from Uttar Pradesh, wants to recover Muslim voters who now support another leader, Akhilesh Yadav. In Tamil Nadu, a famous politician named Vijay joined the protests because he even thought that Tamil Nadu has only 5% of Muslims, has many WAQF properties, and the elections will be presented soon!

Several states with large Muslim populations, such as Assam (34%), West Bengal (27%) and Kerala (26%), will have elections next year. Uttar Pradesh, with 20% of Muslims, votes in 2027. Protest against the WAQF bill helps politicians to show that they are “prodemocracy” and can bring them more voters.

Bihar, where 17% of the population is Muslim, has elections in November. So, these protests will probably continue. Many opposition parties (such as RJD, Congress and abandoned parties) expect to win Muslim votes when facing the bill. But these protests could also help BJP, which has obtained the support of anti-musulm voters in the past.

There are also problems within the ruling party of Bihar, JDU, with some leaders thinking about the sheet. Meanwhile, another politician, Prashant Kishor, prepares to jump into the fight. With so many political games happening, the next months will be full of action!
