ISRO’s Role in Building India’s Space Economy

To help India become more self-sufficient and boost industry, IN-SPACe recently helped transfer five new technologies created by ISRO to companies in India. The agreement was signed on August 27, 2025, at an event held at IN-SPACe’s Ahmedabad office. NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) was really helpful in getting the space agency in touch with the right industry people to get the deal done. With these five agreements, IN-SPACe has now helped transfer 98 ISRO tech deals. This shows they’re really trying to get more space tech made locally and sold to more businesses. What’s cool is that these technologies won’t just help space exploration, they’ll also be a boost to regular businesses.

Take Voltix Semicon Pvt. Ltd. in Pune, for example. They’re now using a special chip tech made by ISRO. This part lets you put many tiny computer chips together in a small package. That’s really helpful for making lots of medical stuff, like RT-PCR kits, and it means we don’t have to buy as much from other countries.

ISRO is doing awesome with tech and is now moving even faster with tech transfers. They’re closing in on 100 transfers, which is a big deal. This means they’re not just doing cool space missions, but that they’re helping build an industry around them. When someone licenses an adhesive, converter, or module, it kicks off a whole series of things. It creates jobs, helps factories in the area, spreads our knowledge, and shows people how India’s space tech can improve their lives.

Every deal we do helps local creators get noticed. You often hear about the stats, like five tech improvements or 98 overall, but what really matters is that ISRO is helping Indian businesses and its people.
