Confusing With the release of AI’s Deep Research tool, users may now swiftly perform in-depth research. Free users can only ask a restricted number of questions each day, however Pro users can ask up to 500. The tool competes with AI behemoths like OpenAI and Google by synthesizing data into in-depth reports.
Perplexity Driven by Aravind Srinivas With less than three minutes needed for the majority of jobs, AI’s Deep Research tool promises to save users hours of time by conducting in-depth research and analysis on their behalf. DeepSeek R1 was already available on Perplexity’s platform, and the addition of Deep Research places it squarely against OpenAI and Google, two of the biggest names in AI.
According to Perplexity, Pro users will be able to ask 500 questions every day, while free users would only receive a certain amount of responses. According to Perplexity, the new AI tool will soon be added to its iOS, Android, and Mac app versions. It is now accessible on the company’s website.
Users only need to click on the new option after tapping on it in the model picker beneath the search box to begin using Deep Research.
How does Perplexity’s Deep Research tool work?
Similar to how a human researcher might approach a topic, Perplexity claims that its Deep Research tool conducts dozens of searches, examines hundreds of sources, and determines what to do next. After the source material is finished, the AI agent compiles all of the data into a “clear and comprehensive report” that may be shared with friends and family via a Perplexity website or a PDF export.
According to Perplexity, Deep Research can assist in offering “expert-level analysis” on a variety of intricate subjects, such as technology, marketing, and finance. Additionally, according to the organization, Deep Research can serve as a “personal consultant” in fields including travel planning, product research, and health.

Perplexity acknowledges that it is not as accurate as ChatGPT Deep Research in the Humanity’s Last Exam. But according to Perplexity, its most recent AI product outperforms Gemini Thinking, o3-Mini, Grok 2, and Claude 3.5 Sonnet on the same metric.
