The personal secretary and advisor of the mayor of Mexico City was killed by armed men on a motorcycle in a central neighborhood of the capital on Tuesday, authorities said.
Mayor Clara Brugada has the second most powerful political position in the country with President Claudia Sheinbaum, and are allies in the Morena party.
Brugada said in a statement that his secretary Ximena Guzmán and advisor José Muñoz were killed in the modern neighborhood. Brugada called the murders a “direct attack.”
The authorities were investigating the reason and verifying the images of the surveillance chamber to identify the attackers, Brugada said. The photos of the scene showed police officers inspect a car that seemed to have multiple bullet holes on the windshield.

“There will be no impunity. That answer will be arrested and must face justice,” Brugada said in his statement.
Sheinbaum lamented the murders and said his duration of his morning press conference that would not be impunity. Sheinbaum served as mayor of Mexico City before winning the presidency last year.
