Gamification of the metaverse and immersive experiences are features of Tech Mahindra’s new sports cloud platform.

Tech Mahindra, an IT services and consulting company, announced earlier this week that it will be collaborating with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to create a sports cloud platform.
Chief Strategy Officer and Head of Growth at Tech Mahindra Jagdish Mitra stated in a chat with CNBC-TV18 that the cloud platform will be able to do everything from sports analytics to providing sports fans with immersive experiences through AR/VR and metaverse gamification.
The business also announced that it has signed agreements with elite sports teams, such as the US-based Jacksonville Jaguars football team and the Punjab Kings. These teams will use the platform to enhance their digital capabilities, engage with fans, and gather sports analytics.

“The collaboration will enable us to offer use cases related to content and community engagement, customer data management and audience segmentation, sports analytics, and deliver immersive stadium-to-home fan experiences by leveraging augmented reality, virtual reality and metaverse gamificiation,” Mitra stated.
According to CNBC-TV18, Tech Mahindra’s involvement in developing and delivering these personalized and immersive experiences may also open up new revenue streams through the addition of services catered to the needs of particular target audiences.

Naturally, a lot of this depends on fan involvement. “By providing common digital capabilities like video, data, and insights, the sports cloud platform will enable sports organizations to remotely interact with fans, accelerating their digital transformation journey,” stated Mitra. The company also promised to share its expertise with other sports teams.
The collaboration takes place in the midst of India’s groundbreaking sports viewing era. The sports viewing market is gradually changing beyond standard sports broadcasts, with Jio Cinema’s “hype mode” bringing viewers closer to the action and American streaming service Fubo TV teasing an Indian debut.

The expansion of the sports-tech industry is anticipated to be aided by the Indian Premier League teams’ increasing fan engagement and increased fan interaction, as well as the work fantasy leagues have started doing on immersive experiences. “We believe the cloud platform is positioned to disrupt the sports-tech industry and garner greater growth for organizations as well,” Mitra said.
