Asamés language will be used necessarily throughout the official work throughout the state, except three districts in the Barak Valley and five districts under the Bodoland territorial region (BTR), according to an official notification.
However, the issuance of all government notifications, office memoranda, acts, rules, regulations, scheme guidelines, transfer and publication orders must be both in English and Asamés, he said.
The notification will enter into force as of April 15 (‘New Year of Bohag’-Assamese).

In the districts of Cachar, Hailakandi and Sibhumi in the Barak Valley, it will be used in addition to the English for official purposes, said the notification issued by the additional main secretary (home and politician departments) Ajay.
Similarly, in Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, Udalguri and Tamulpur under the BTR, the bodo language will be used in addition to English for official purposes, he said.
A decision in this purpose was the tasks at the meeting of the Cabinet of the Council of Ministers, chaired by the main minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on April 4.
All notifications, orders, acts, rules and guidelines issued by the central government will be published translating into the Asamés language (bodo and Bengali wherever it is requested) within 30 days after its receipt for the concern of the office, the official.
Inherited documents that comprise acts, rules, regulations and notifications will also translate into the Asamés (Bengali and Bodo Werever applicable) gradually about two years, he said.
The translation work will be carried out with the assistance of the language departments of the universities.
In the case of any ambiguity, discrepancy or legal interpretation requirement, the English version of such laws, notifications, rules, regulations and ordinances will prevail, he said.
The English language will continue to be used for communication with the central government, its offices and other establishments of the state government, according to notification.
All consultation reports, parapronic comments, instructions, affidavits and correspondences, as necessary, is presented before the courts are in the English language, he said.
In case of interpretation of the provisions contained in any rule, acts, regulations, office order, judicial orders or judges, the English version will prevail.
According to the notification, the anuvad Bhasini application “can be used with the purpose of translation of the English language to Assamese, Bengali and Bodo, but the officers will be exercised and carefully reviewed the translated precision and the corresponding precision.
