India’s AI program aims to build a digital economy worth $1 trillion.

The initiative for artificial intelligence will comprise the proposed National Robotics Strategy.
The government published a report on the nation’s artificial intelligence initiative on Friday. According to the government, this program would help India reach its objective of having a USD 1 trillion digital economy by 2026.

According to Rajeev Chandrasekhar, minister of electronics and information technology, the draft National Strategy on Robotics will be a component of the multi-year India AI initiative.

“This is a deep, multi-year roadmap to make Indian AI work for being a kinetic enabler of the trillion dollar digital economy,” Chandrasekhar stated. The minister has previously stated that the government intended for India to have a digital economy worth $1 trillion by 2026.

He said that in addition to fostering the startup ecosystem, India’s AI initiative would concentrate on developing the nation’s overall talents, creating a strong IT infrastructure, etc.

The paper suggests developing an India data platform for use by domestic entrepreneurs and researchers, as well as constructing a computer network based on graphics processing units to give local businesses access to resources for the development of AI engines or models.

“India AI computer platform will be a PPP (public private partnership) project that will create substantial GPU capacity for our startups and researchers to train their models,” Chandrasekhar stated.

He claimed that India’s data sets, which may be among the largest collections of anonymized data sets, will be utilized to train Indian researchers and companies.

“Indian AI will also support development of AI chips in partnership with the Semicon India Program,” Chandrasekhar stated.

A consultation paper on the National Strategy on Robotics has been released by the Ministry of Electronics and IT and is available for public comment until October 31.
