The top 10 in Hurun also includes Binny & Sachin Bansal of Flipkart, Vijay Shekhar Sharma of Paytm, Kunal Shah of Cred, Deepinder Goyal of Zomato, and the Kamath brothers of Zerodha. India’s 200 Best Self-Made Business Owners
The creator of the wildly successful DMart chain of hypermarkets, Radhakishan Damani, has topped the most recent rich list of the nation’s self-made entrepreneurs. This is a notable achievement given that the list is dominated by much younger founders of start-ups such as Paytm, Zomato, Cred, Zerodha, Swiggy, Flipkart, and Razorpay.

With his company, Avenue Supermarts, boasting a market capitalization of Rs 2,38,188 crore, Damani holds the top spot in the “IDFC FIRST Private Hurun India Top 200 Self-Made Entrepreneurs of the Millennium 2023.”

The Bansals of Flipkart—Binny and Sachin (Rs 1,19,472 crore), Zomato’s Deepinder Goyal (Rs 86,835 crore), Dream11’s Bhavit Sheth & Harsh Jain (Rs 66,542 crore), and Swiggy (Rs 66,542 crore) are the next in line after Damani, a veteran investor in the stock market as well.

Additionally, the top 10 list of the study includes Cred’s Kunal Shah, Razorpay’s Harshil Mathur & Shashank Kumar, Abhay Soi of Max Healthcare Institute, Paytm’s Vijay Shekhar Sharma, and Zerodha’s Nithin Kamath & Nikhil Kamath.

Curiously, Ashwin Desai (72) of Aether, Ashok Soota (80) of Happiest Minds, Naresh Trehan (77) of Medanta, and Jaithirth Rao (71), of Homefirst, are among the wealthy businesspeople who make up the list; Damani, 68, is not the oldest.

Kaivalya Vohra of Zepto, on the other hand, is the youngest person on the rich list at 21. The next in line are Ritesh Agarwal (29) of OYO, Dilsher Malhi (27) & Siddhant Saurabh (28) of Zupee, and Shashvat Nakrani (25), of BharatPe.

Ghazal Alagh, 35, of Mamaearth tops the list of the youngest women on the list; Saumya Singh Rathore, 35, of Winzo, and Garima Sawhney, 37, of Pristyn Care round out the top three positions.

While start-ups, which make up the majority of the list, are primarily unlisted businesses, the study also includes a few well-known listed businesses, including DMart, Zomato, Max Healthcare, Paytm, Nykaa, MakeMyTrip, Star Health Insurance, Policybazaar, Vedant Fashions, and Delivery.
