The long -awaited train trip to Srinagar from Katra has to wait a little longer, since the Department of Meteorology of India (IMD) predicted the bad weather for Saturday, the opening date scheduled for the project. The missing link between Banihal and Katra houses Chenab Rail Bridge and Anji Khad Bridge. Now, with the completion of these bridges and the Banihal and Katra sections, passengers can travel to Srinagar and other parts of the Kashmir Valley by train. The section is part of the long-awaited UDHAMPUR-SRINAGAR-BARAMULLA RAILLA LINK (USBRL) project.

Until now, roads and flights were the only options. The missing links will relieve the trip for travelers. While a road trip between Katra and Srinagar takes between six and seven hours, Vande Bharat trains will recently propose that they will take hours while offering panoramic views.

Taking into account the special assumptions of Kashmira in terms of its climate, the Indian railways offer two personalized designed of the Bharat trains for the region that will sacrifice two services daily between Sinagar and Katra, every time it is inaugurated.
