The long -awaited train trip to Srinagar from Katra has to wait a little longer, since the Department of Meteorology of India (IMD) predicted the bad weather for Saturday, the opening date scheduled for the project. On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled to inaugurate the first Vande Bharat train between the Cashmiro Valley and the Jammu region along with the inauguration of the Banihal-Katra section.
In its predictions, the IMD has said that a new western disturbance, seen as a cyclonic circulation, is at the average and superior tropospheric level over Iraq. “It is likely to move east and affect the Western Himalayas region from April 16 to 20,” the IMD said in his newsletter on Wednesday morning.

Speaking to News18, a railroad official said that the plans have decreased the bone taking into account the security of the prime minister in this climate. “The project is designed so that train operations do not stop in these climatic conditions. But the inauguration plan must be eliminated since the weather can affect the movement of airplanes in the area. This is for the security of the prime minister,” they said.
The new dates for the inauguration have been completed. “The next date, when finally, will communicate,” added the official.
On Tuesday, an official communication was sent to the Jammu and Kashmir administration on the “postponed” plan.
According to the schedule, the prime minister flew to the region to inaugurate the new railway line between Banihal and Katra and two Vande Bharat trains for the regions. The missing link between Banihal and Katra houses Chenab Rail Bridge and Anji Khad Bridge. Now, with the completion of these bridges and the Banihal and Katra sections, passengers can travel to Srinagar and other parts of the Kashmir Valley by train. The section is part of the long-awaited UDHAMPUR-SRINAGAR-BARAMULLA RAILLA LINK (USBRL) project.
Until now, roads and flights were the only options. The missing links will relieve the trip for travelers. While a road trip between Katra and Srinagar takes between six and seven hours, Vande Bharat trains will recently propose that they will take hours while offering panoramic views.
Taking into account the special assumptions of Kashmira in terms of its climate, the Indian railways offer two personalized designed of the Bharat trains for the region that will sacrifice two services daily between Sinagar and Katra, every time it is inaugurated.
