It is essential that journalists reflect and wonder how the information that Wolde is spreading serve the public and if it would be useful for them, said the former president of the Supreme Court of India NV Ramana here on Saturday.
He was participating as the main guest in a program organized by the Welfare Association of journalists Telugu, where he presented awards for Telugu journalists with better performance. Mr. Ramana said that in times as the thesis when there is an extreme competition on who breaks the news, public trust can only be maintained when the news is presented impartially and fairly. “One must always have self-interaction and self-criticism before spreading news,” he said.
Remembering his journalism days in the early 1980s with a daily teluu in Vijayawada, Ramana said many things have changed since then. “We were only some of us. The public respects ourselves immensely. Then, gradually, the number increased. Television changed the way we present the news. He also added that it is important that a journalist study the issue he informs and should always be willing to learn to improve his knowledge. “If we are writing negative information about someone, we must also take their answer. They have the right to express their complaint,” Ramana said.
“The work of a journalist is like that of a doctor. They are expected to be all the time, rain or sun. Unlike popular opinion, many do not live a luxurious life. To solve many of their problems, there should be journalists of unity.”
